Westland, Michigan---Westland City Council OKs revised plan for North Creek Estates
The credit crunch and poor real estate market has taken its toll on residential development - some projects don't get off the ground while others falter before completion.
North Creek Estates, a Planned Unit Development on the east side of Newburgh south of Joy, is one of those uncompleted developments. Eighteen homes remain to be constructed in the 85-home development originally developed by P.A.R. Residential Development, Inc. and built by D’Orazio Contracting Corp.
"We have builders who are going to pick up the ball and run with it for this development," said Westland Planning Director Bruce Thompson.
Nick Canzano of North Creek Estates Partners LLC, and Nick Mancinelli of Westland Investments LLC, are taking over the project. The council approved a revised site plan to add one addition floor plan to the homes for sale in the development. The new floor plan will be a 2,040-square-foot four bedroom colonial with a 2nd floor laundry room.
"The plan meets the ordinance requirements and is consistent with the elements of the approved site plan for the development," said Thompson.
The plan is to complete the subdivision, said Nick Canzano. "We're trying to build a few homes. It's not good times for us but we're out there fighting the good fight," he said. "I think this (added) house will help."
